In this incredibly in-depth and leisurely-paced itinerary, we will tackle Chile’s three most iconic sites: the lunar landscape of Atacama Desert, the towering peak of Torres Del Paine, and the mysterious Moais at Easter Island. With a lot of distance to cover, we will try to include as many air travel as possible to saves you the hassle and combine them with some of the most exclusive properties in each region to make sure you are pampered every night. In between, we will spend a couple of nights each in Santiago and the beautiful Wine Valleys, not only just for a stark change of sceneries but also to savor the country’s most legendary street food and fabulous wines.
There are many lakes and salt flats across the barren Atacama Desert that will absolutely take your breath away. Which lagoon to visit will depend on your interest and fitness level – we may venture to 4,000 meters above sea level on one day to see the majestic Miscanti and Miñiques lagoon and settle down with flock of flamingoes near Chaxa Lagoon on another day. Swimming is possible in the waterholes of Cejar Lagoon, not far from San Pedro de Atacama, or Baltinache Lagoon if you do not wish to be found by other tourists. Your travel designer will assist you in planning the itinerary during your stay in the desert

Set off early at dawn with your private guide to visit the El Tatio, currently the largest geyser field in the southern hemisphere with 80 active geysers. As the sun comes up and sheds its warmth across the area, the temperature contrast causes the steam to rise from the fumaroles, creating a surreal natural display. Enjoy a simple breakfast on-site and take a moment to soak in all the movement surrounds you from bubbling mud pools to bursting hot water. On our way back, we will stop at a traditional Andean Village, just to get a sense of what the morning routine is like in this remote settlement, and hopefully, meet some Vicunas and foxes along the way
Lace up your boots as we head out in the early morning to hike the Valle De La Luna. Compared to the more popular sunset tour, a morning visit, without the presence of large crowds, is equally magical, if not more surreal. The eeriness and emptiness will transport you to an entirely different, almost Martian-like planet. We will traverse through all kinds of interesting rock formations, salt crystals, dark caves, giant dunes, and stunning vantage points that will give you the impressive panoramic views.
Thanks to its unpolluted skies and almost-zero rain, Atacama Desert is one of the best places on earth for stargazing, both using naked eyes and powerful telescopes. There are several observatories around the desert; some have the edge on equipment while others offer exclusivity and better all-around experiences. The skies, however, remains the same and you may see different object depending on your time of visit, from star clusters and nebulas to Saturn rings or even supernovas on show.
Feeding more than seven million inhabitants, the buzzing La Vega Market creates a mixture of color and chaos. A walk through its numerous food stalls will be filled with authenticity as we enjoy local favorites from a super-sized sandwich, Chilean seafood and empanada to a cup of coffee at downtown café, classic Chilean cocktail in a kitschy bar and lunch at a ‘where-the-locals-go’ restaurant
Spend the next four days uncovering every breathtaking corner of Easter Island, witness the ancient culture, and come face to face with all kinds of moai warriors. Your travel designer will take your interest and physical conditions into consideration when planning your itinerary. There are obvious sites that must be on the lists, such as the picturesque statues at Ahu Tongariki or the quarry site of Rano Raraku, but also lesser-known places like the ocean-facing Ahu Akivi that are no less interesting. If desired, you can also hit one of the diving and snorkeling sites off the coast or trek to the island’s highest point at Terevaka Volcano summit with 360° views of the horizon
Escape the cosmopolitan for a while to meet the quirky side of Chile on this day trip to Valparaiso. At first sight, everything seems chaotic in this seaport city, but you will get used to the delightful mess after a while as your guide walk you through a labyrinth of alleys and stairs, past eye-popping street arts, and former residence of Chile’s famed poet, Pablo Neruda. There is an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing lunch and Pisco Sour in one of the ocean-looking terraces and, of course, ride one of the historic elevators that earned the city a UNESCO-heritage tag
While the trek to the base of the Towers is one of the most challenging trails in Torres Del Paine National Park, it is also the most sought after as it brings you to the closest viewpoints of the Paine Massif. Setting off from Laguna Amarga, we will first take a steep climb along the Asencio River to Paso de Los Vientos, followed by a relatively flat walk on a steep mountainside. We will then cross the river and follow a short trail through the dense forest until we reach the steep and rocky moraine. The final trek is the most annoying as you often have to battle against the strong Patagonian winds, but it will deliver you right to the lookout points that gives the classic, breathtaking view of Torres Del Paine
This short excursion on Lake Grey involves paddling around detached icebergs from Grey Glacier and getting pretty close to the glacier itself. Navigating near the glacier allows you to take some stellar pictures from different points of view and, hopefully, witness the ice calving phenomena.
Spend half-day to explore the eastern part of Torres Del Paine, starting with the Blue Lagoon (Laguna Azul). Here, you will encounter the spectacular Paine towers reflected in the deep blue waters and abundance of wildlife scattered across the flower-filled pastures, such as guanacos and rheas. From this point, you may choose to continue your hike toward Laguna Cebolla or visit the nearby Cascada Del Rio Paine for a nice little waterfall view
This final couple of nights in Chilean Wine Country gives a perfect ending for you to rejuvenate after spending the last few days in the wilderness. While its purpose is for you to relax, you can still enjoy many exciting experiences, depending on your accommodations, from horseback riding to a traditional Chilean BBQ at the vineyards. If you’d like, we can also arrange a private wine tasting session with exquisite Chilean cheeses or a visit to the organic garden with resident chefs to collect the ingredients for your special dinner
